Michael Brecker Solo Saxophone Concert

by Bob Reynolds Get exclusive music

What more inspiration might you need to shed?

I mean, c’mon…have you ever heard intervals sound so musical?! This is the epitome of control, command and creativity on the horn.

Brecker once told me that those über-bends he did (the ones you’ll hear inside the first 3 minutes) were an attempt to imitate electric guitar players he admired. Man, what a difference between *that* kind of [intentional] note bending and the more garden variety abrasive version we’re all too accustomed to hearing.

This is a beautiful concert. I hope you can earmark some time to watch it in full. My suggestion is to full-screen that puppy and eliminate all distractions.

PS, for those on the waiting list for the online lesson community, enrollment invitations go out Friday morning. First come, first serve. There will only be a small group of spots available. Want more info? Here’s a tour inside the site.
